BA Newsletter 9.28

*After all the drama of the past 2 weeks, British Accents Radio is back on the air, after the WMFO staff shuffled a few things around and made some room for the show. The bad news is that BA is now only 1 hour long, but my "New England Product" show is only an hour and that's packed with tons of great music. BA will now be heard from 6-7pm on Sunday nights on WMFO. This Sunday - a brand new track from BADLY DRAWN BOY.

*OASIS will release an EP featuring some of their legendary b-sides called "Stop The Clocks EP" on November 13 in the UK. The EP will feature "Acquiesce" and "The Masterplan" plus demo versions of "Cigarettes and Alcohol" and "Some Might Say".

*Keeping the 11-year war going, DAMON ALBARN's new band THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE QUEEN will release their debut single 2 weeks prior, on October 30. "Herculean" will be the world's first taste of Albarn's latest project.

*Another Britpop legend keeping in the news - JARVIS COCKER, who will release his solo debut "Jarvis" on November 13.

*Catch ASH playing an intimate show at The Annex in New York on October 5th. The band will debut new material from their forthcoming album, and probably play a bunch of old favorites as well.

*DEPECHE MODE is re-releasing 3 classic albums with extra tracks and other bonus material. "A Broken Frame", "Some Great Reward", and "Songs of Faith and Devotion" are getting the reissue treatment this time around.

*Just as British Accents Radio was saved from the brink in the past week, there's now hope for internet indie station WOXY.com - the folks at www.lala.com have kicked in some of the necessary funds to keep the station on the air. After checking out lala.com, it seems they've got a pretty cool idea - it's a CD trading website that gives some of the proceeds to the artists.

*THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS are working on their next album, the follow-up to "Twin Cinema". In the meantime, Guitarist Todd has a side project called FANCEY that prances into Boston this Friday, September 29, for a show at Bill's Bar sponsored by FNX (and booked by your humble narrator). Also on the bill are excellent local bands THE STERNS, TAXPAYER, GENE DANTE, and FACES ON FILM. All of this for only $5. Starts at 8pm, with DJ Dave's iPod running between the bands.

*MY VITRIOL are back - or at least back on the road anyway. They'll make their long-awaited Boston debut on November 13 at the Middle East upstairs.

*Brit newcomers THE KLAXONS will release their "Xan Valleys EP" in the US on a date tba. The band is also playing a handful of US shows, including SF's "popscene".

*Ready ART BRUT? The band will release a new single on November 6, their first post-"Bang Bang" release. "Nag Nag Nag" will be available as an import only.

*Several members of THE BETA BAND have re-appeared as THE ALIENS, who released an EP in May and have a full length on the way early next year.

*Will they or won't they? Conflicting reports from the EMBRACE camp about the future of the band, after lead singer DANNY MCNAMARA said the band's next album would be their last. Apparently they won't be soundtracking the 2010 English world cup team.

*We hardly missed thee - BABYBIRD is back with his first album in 5 years, titled "Between My Ears There's Nothing But Music".

*Check out the playlist for last Sunday's British Accents radio show here, and a reminder that this week's show is the first week of the 1-hour broadcasts, from 6-7pm
